Love Portal and LEGO? Support This Amazing LEGO Ideas Set!

Are you a fan of Portal, Portal 2, or Half-Life? If so, there’s a LEGO Ideas project you need to see.

Check out this Portal-themed LEGO set: [LEGO Ideas Submission](https://ideas.lego.com/projects/5bf2eccb-d18a-4637-a97e-bb3dc85e5f4c).

A LEGO Set Every Portal Fan Will Love

This LEGO Ideas project brings the world of Portal or, more accurately, Portal 2 to life with incredible detail. The design stays true to the game, featuring recognisable elements like test chambers, portals, GLaDOS as the main attraction, and yes, even Wheatley is there. There is also potential to add new sections or components to the set, enhancing its representation of iconic game features.

Whether you enjoy building for display or playing with interactive sets, this one has something to offer. The set is built with intricate details that capture the puzzle-solving nature of Portal, making it a great addition for LEGO and gaming fans alike. The design and representation of the characters and elements from the game are really cool, adding to the overall appeal of the set.

Imagine recreating iconic moments from the game using LEGO bricks. The set has the potential for interactive play, allowing you to experiment with different test chamber setups. If you love the challenge and creativity of Portal, this LEGO set is the perfect way to bring that experience into the real world.

The Portal Series and Its Iconic Characters

The Portal series, created by Valve Corporation, has captivated gamers with its unique blend of first-person puzzle-solving and dark humour. At the heart of this critically acclaimed franchise is GLaDOS, the sadistic and passive-aggressive artificial intelligence that guides players through the game’s challenging chambers.

GLaDOS’s witty banter and sinister motives have made her one of the most memorable characters in video game history. Her presence adds depth and intrigue to the game, making every interaction a blend of humour and tension. For fans of the Portal series, GLaDOS is not just a character; she is an icon.

The LEGO Ideas Campaign for GLaDOS

The LEGO Ideas campaign for GLaDOS was launched by hachiroku24, a passionate LEGO enthusiast and devoted Portal fan. This campaign aimed to bring the iconic character to life in LEGO form, capturing GLaDOS’s intricate design and unique personality.

This isn’t the first time Hachiroku2 has tackled GLaDOS or Portal Two. Their previous project quickly gained momentum, amassing the necessary 10K votes on the LEGO Ideas platform to get through to the LEGO approval stage, which unfortunately didn’t pass. This more detailed set might have what it takes to get through, as it has already hit over 3000 supporters since the 21st of January!

This overwhelming support from the community highlights the dedication and creativity of Portal fans, showcasing the potential for a LEGO GLaDOS set to become a reality. The campaign’s success is a testament to the enduring appeal of GLaDOS and the Portal series.

Design and Features of the LEGO Set

The proposed LEGO GLaDOS set promises to be a masterpiece of design and engineering. Featuring a highly detailed and poseable representation of GLaDOS, the set includes moving parts and intricate design elements that capture the essence of the character. Fans will appreciate the inclusion of iconic accessories, such as the cake from the end of Portal 1, and walls that are part of GLaDOS’s design. This set is not just a build; it’s an experience, offering a unique and challenging project that brings the beloved character to life. For fans of the Portal series and LEGO enthusiasts alike, this set is a must-have addition to their collection.

Bringing the Portal Universe to Life with LEGO

The Portal series is renowned for its rich and immersive universe, blending science fiction with dark humour. A LEGO Portal series would offer fans a new and exciting way to experience this world, with sets that bring the game’s iconic locations and characters to life. Imagine building the Aperture Science Enrichment Center or the crumbling ruins of the old Aperture facility. Each set would offer endless opportunities for creative building and storytelling, allowing fans to recreate their favourite moments from the game or invent new adventures within the Portal universe.

How You Can Help with the Project

As with all LEGO ideas sets, this set needs your support to become an official LEGO product. So, if you’re a fan of Glados from Portal or this set in particular, why not show your support?

– Click the link above.

– Hit the “Support” button.

– Share it with other Portal and LEGO fans.

Do you want to see this set on store shelves? Your vote makes a difference.

Well, well, well… it looks like Mattel has finally decided to step up and take another swing at the brick-building world with their new brand, the Mattel Brick Shop, which will drop its first products this May (2025). This launch marks an exciting new chapter in Mattel’s evolution, aiming to revolutionise the building toy market. That’s right—Lego’s dominance is being challenged again, this time by a company that has been making toy cars, dolls, and technically bricks for years. But should Lego be worried? Or is this just Mega Bloks in a new outfit? Let’s take a closer look.

What Is the Introduce Mattel Brick Shop?

According to Mattel’s big announcement to introduce the Mattel Brick Shop, the Mattel Brick Shop is their new, dedicated home for all things brick-related. It’s a sleek, modern-looking online store that promises a whole new take on construction toys. It features themed building sets from Mattel’s biggest brands, like Barbie, Hot Wheels, Polly Pocket, Fisher Price, Masters of the Universe and more, giving fans a fresh way to engage with their favourite franchises – maybe.

But here’s where things get a little interesting. Mattel already owns Mega Bloks (or Mega Construx, as Mattel rebranded the Bloks for a while). That’s been their answer to Lego for decades. So… is this a completely new thing, or are they just slapping a shiny new logo on the Mega Bloks we’ve been stepping on since the ’90s?

The new product line under the Mattel Brick Shop brand aims to innovate with quality designs, ease of use, and increased piece counts, offering builders customisation opportunities.

Update: If you look at the Mattel site and look for ‘all brands,’ there is no mention of Mega Bloks or Mega Construct. If you search ‘mega’, the only mention is in the footer and is to their building instructions, which makes me think the Mattel brick shop is a rebrand.

Key Features and Offerings of Mattel Brick

A Worthy Rival or Just More Mega Bloks?

Mattel is making a big deal about this new initiative in the construction toy market, but let’s be honest—Mega Bloks has been around for years, and while it has its fans, it’s never come close to dethroning Lego. Some of their sets have been great (the Halo and Pokémon lines were genuinely solid), but overall, their bricks just don’t have that same click of satisfaction as Lego.

And now, Mattel is trying again with the Mattel Brick Shop, but what’s different? From what we can tell, this is more of a branding move rather than a full-scale revolution. It seems like Mattel is consolidating all its brick-related efforts under one roof, making it easier for fans to find and buy Mega Bloks—sorry, Mattel Bricks. Additionally, Mattel aims to offer these new sets at a competitive price point, ensuring that customers can enjoy high-quality designs without breaking the bank.

The Good, the Bad, and the Brick-y

The Good:

Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Polly Pocket sets could be a big draw. Mega Bloks has done cool things before, and focusing on these franchises might work. The innovative features of these sets make them particularly appealing to a wide range of builders.

More competition is always good—even if Lego remains king, having Mattel push innovation might bring some fresh ideas. These new sets are designed to inspire builders by encouraging creativity and innovative construction techniques.

Availability in the US & Canada now, with global expansion likely later.

The Bad:

It’s still Mega Bloks—and while some people love them, the general brick-building community knows they’re just… not Lego. However, Mattel Brick Shop aims to attract customers by offering building sets at accessible price points, ensuring affordability without compromising on quality.

Quality concerns—Mega Bloks have historically had issues with clutch power (the way the bricks stick together), making builds feel a little flimsy. Mattel Brick Shop is committed to delivering innovative building sets that surpass builders’ expectations, addressing these quality concerns with elevated designs and authentic details.

Is this really new? It’s more of a rebranding than a genuine Lego competitor.

Verdict: Is it a Serious Competitor in the Construction Toy Market or Just a PR Move?

Honestly, the Mattel Brick Shop looks more like a reorganisation of their existing brick efforts rather than a true Lego challenger. It’s basically Mega Bloks with a new storefront, but maybe—just maybe—Mattel is setting the stage for something bigger. Roberto Stanichi, the global head overseeing Mattel’s vehicles and building sets division, is leading this initiative.

If they can improve their brick quality and bring in more unique IPs, they might have a shot at making Lego sweat. This launch could be an exciting new chapter for Mattel, signifying their commitment to revolutionising the building toy market. Until then, Lego fans probably won’t be losing sleep over this one.

What do you think? Will you be checking out the Mattel Brick Shop products in May 2025, or are you sticking with the classic Danish bricks? Let us know in the comments!

With the release of the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Minifigures, there has been a mad rush to find out the box distribution of figures, for the completionists out there to get a complete set.

The problem lies in the fact the box of 60 only really contains 2 complete sets (excluding the 1 per box minifigure), as there are 22 minifigures to collect!

The most in a bix are 3 of the same characters, and the least is 1 per box. Below is a table of the figures and how many appear in the box.

Minifigures with Three in a Box

Harry Potter:

Harry Potter (Hogwarts Uniform) (1)

Hermione Granger (2)

Ron Weasley (3)

Draco Malfoy (4)

Neville Longbottom (6)

Cho Chang (7)

Dean Thomas (8)

Lord Voldemort (9)

Dobby (10)

Cedric Diggory (12)

Filius Flitwick (13)

Mad-Eye Moody (14)

Albus Dumbledore (16)

Fantastic Beasts:

Newt Scamander (17)

Porpentina Goldstein (18)

Jacob Kowalski (19)

Queenie Goldstein (20)

Minifigures with Two in a Box

Harry Potter:

Luna Lovegood (5)

Sybil Trelawney (11)

Harry Potter (Invisibility Cloak) (15)

Fantastic Beasts:

Credence Barebone (21)

The Rare One (1 per box of 60):

Percival Graves / Gellert Grindelwald (22)

So now you know the rare ones, but how do you find them in a box of 60?

LEGO unveiled the new LEGO Creator Expert set at their flagship London Leicester square store. Where else would they unveil a British icon, other than the home of James Bond and Aston Martin, right?

This set is interesting and will appeal to LEGO Creator enthusiasts and James Bond lovers alike. But I am more interested in what this means for the future. LEGO have now licensed Aston Martin and James Bond, which means we could potentially see James Bond BrickHeadz, LEGO James Bond the video game, and many classic playsets from the 26!?! James Bond films released to date!

Imagine loading up LEGO Dimensions and having a new James Bond area to play through, Or the iconic scenes that could be recreated in LEGO form. This year, LEGO is returning to the Harry Potter franchise, so we know they can dabble in classics too, not just the newest film releases.

Of course, this may be nothing, and not amount to any more than this one-off, but after the release of the LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron, I can imagine a similar set for one of Aston Martins newer cars, and it would be awesome.

Yes, you were underwhelmed by the LEGO Hulkbuster Ultron Edition, but fear not! You are about to be saved by famous Singaporean Mecha builder Kelvin Low AKA Chubbybots and his LEGO Hulkbuster Ultron Edition MOD!

Chubbybots has only gone and modified the official LEGO Hulkbuster Ultron Edition to get it more in line with the film version – and I for one, this he’s done an amazing job!

The first and the most striking thing you’ll notice is the extra bulk in the shoulders and the chest. The Hulkbuster armour is humanoid in proportions – though stretched the limits akin to Hulk, if you look a muscley human, like Arnold Schwarzenegger, you’ll see that the chest area usually bulks out from the slender belly/waist area. This is one of the problems I had with the Official LEGO Hulkbuster Ultron Edition, as it just looked too flat. The revised version of Chubbybots fixes this to great effect.

Instructions and Guide Video

Not only does Chubbybots take the time to figure out how to improve the LEGO Hulkbuster Ultron Edition, but he also takes the time to create a video that details each addition he makes. Tho this isn’t a piece by piece breakdown, you should be able to figure out what goes into each addition section that he adds. This is a really nice addition and I have included the video below.

Lego Ideas Hulkbuster

I was one of the 10,000 people that were a little upset, the fantastic set from Raychow didn’t get green-lit by LEGO. It looked AMAZing and far superior to the one that LEGO has finally given us. However, I feel that the additions and mods to this set get pretty close to the UCS Hulkbuster set I have been waiting for! And now I just have to figure out if I am ready to splash out the money for the set and all the additional bricks/sets I’ll need for the modification of the original set.

For more on the LEGO Ideas Hulkbuster UCS, you can go the LEGO ideas page, or you can check out Raychow’s Flickr

Final Thoughts

It’s always a shame when you feel you don’t get the best set you can from LEGO, and this set just feels like they removed bricks right at the end of production to hit a lower price point. Some things just don’t see, quite right for an official UCS style set. The £119.99 price tag seems high for a model that doesn’t closely resemble the Hulkbuster we know and love and seems a shame that a £20 – £30 addition would probably be all that was needed to get an AMAZING set.

However, where LEGO dropped the ball, Chubbybots has stepped in and given a LEGO Hulkbuster set that more closely resembles the film version, and the version from the comics. If you like Ironman and the Hulkbuster suit and decide to buy the official set, I think you will be attempting the upgrade before long – It’s just so damn pretty!

Pictures of the completed set below 🙂

LEGO announced the Ultron Edition Hulkbuster recently, and though it is a few steps above the standard version they are releasing to coincide with the film (Avengers: Infinity War) – I have to say, I am a little underwhelmed.

This is an Ultimate Edition LEGO kit, but with the play on words using Ultron instead of Ultimate. When I first saw it, I wasn’t even sure if it was a UCS edition, but the classic black and white printed specs imply that it is.

Not to worry though, because if you have some extra time a few spare bricks lying around, we have found a tutorial to bulk it up nicely: LEGO Hulkbuster Ultron Edition – Mod.

Back to the standard version, and there are a few things that I think they could have added, especially aiming for a relatively high price tag. I think they could have just splashed a few extra coins on getting it to the level that many of us have been wanting. Even if they scaled back the detail of the display stand so that they could get the suit really looking the hefty part.

Final Thoughts

While this set can be modded to look closer to the Hulkbuster suit from Infinity Wars when you are spending £119.99 do you really want to be spending more on extra pieces to get the set we actually want? So while there is a promising upgrade path, I feel it’s a bit of a letdown that I am already thinking about changing the set.

The Hulkbuster should be a goliath, Its shoulders are supper-wide and bulky, and this set just doesn’t have the heft that I personally feel it should. I have included a shot of the film incarnations of the Hulkbuster suit for you to make your own opinion.

Anyway, have a great day, and let me know what you think of the Hulkbuster suit below 🙂

After so few new figures have been released for LEGO BrickHeadz since the first batch, I was getting worried that LEGO had already pulled the plug, so I was quite surprised to see brand new Star Wars BrickHeadz sets on my recent trip to Tesco!

The initial batch of BrickHeadz saw the release of a selection of Marvel characters, and the DC characters from the LEGO Batman movie. Shortly after they released the Belle and Beast BrickHeadZ from Beauty and the Beast. The next official set was from another Disney property – Pirates of the Carribean, which saw the release of Captain Jack Sparrow and Salazar. But then nothing, until now.

Recently it was announced that there would be limited edition Star Wars double packs available, one being the Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbonite set, another being Rey and Kylo Ren, but until now there had been no UK release mentioned, and nothing on the official LEGO shop beside the original BrickHeadz they released.

So I was more than a little surprised when I saw the Finn and Captain Phasma Star Wars BrickHeadz sets available to buy in Tesco! I took a picture and then looked at the Official LEGO site, and there is still no mention of the sets! So I guess exclusive really is exclusive when it comes to these sets. The sets also retail for £9.50, which is a nice discount on the original BrickHeadz price of £10 – every little helps, amirite!?

Well, that’s it, guys! If you are still reading this and not already on your way to the nearest Tesco, then you have my permission to go now… Happy hunting!

LEGO announced the LEGO Ideas Women of NASA set will be released on 1st Nove 2017. The Women of NASA set got through the review process in 2016 as part of the second review results.

The LEGO Ideas second review results of 2016 saw a great selection of sets, but alas only one could get through the selection process at the time – the Women of NASA set. Fast forward a few months and the LEGO Ideas Voltron set also made the cut, but the review process of that piece was delayed initially.

LEGO’s official description below:

Build, play and learn from inspiring women of NASA!

We’re incredibly excited to finally show off the first official images of the inspiring LEGO Ideas 21312 Women of NASA set designed by LEGO Ideas member Maia Weinstock (a.k.a. 20tauri) from the USA.

The Women of NASA set will officially be landing on store shelves from the 1st of November, 2017 for a recommended retail price of USD/Euro 24.99.

However, if you’re in New York City you can already get your hands on the set on the 28th of October, 2017 as Maia will be visiting the Flatiron District LEGO store to meet and greet fans and sign sets. More details below

Here is the official description:

Follow in the footsteps of 4 pioneering women of NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration—America’s space agency) with this fun and inspiring LEGO® set. Build the Hubble Space Telescope and learn astronomy with the ‘Mother of Hubble’ Nancy Grace Roman. Develop the software for space missions with computer scientist Margaret Hamilton. And launch the space shuttle with Sally Ride, the first American woman to fly in space, and Mae Jemison, the world’s first woman of color in space. Build, play, learn and one day you too could become a science, technology, engineering or mathematics superstar!

A personal tribute to pioneers

Science editor and writer Maia Weinstock combined three of her personal passions in designing the Women of NASA set for LEGO® Ideas: space exploration, the history of women in science and engineering, and LEGO building.

“I thought people might like to build their own display featuring minifigures of accomplished women in the STEM [Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics] professions. For the vignettes, I wanted to contextualize each person in terms of her contribution to NASA history.”

“I was absolutely elated when the project reached 10,000 supporters! The set clearly touched and inspired many, as it reached 10,000 supporters in just 15 days. The night on which it appeared we’d reach 10K, I stayed up until 4:30 or 5 in the morning so that I could watch the 10,000th vote come in. I didn’t get much sleep that day, but it was thrilling!”

LEGO® Designers Gemma Anderson and Marie Sertillanges were thrilled to help refine Maia’s model into an official LEGO set.

“I was extremely excited about working on this one, especially as I had already heard of it and really wanted it to become a set,” says Gemma. “My focus was on ensuring that the model had stability, the colors were aligned and the subjects were accurately portrayed, all while staying respectful to the design of the original model.”

For Marie, “The main challenge in designing the minifigures and the decorations was that I could not make anything up. Every detail was important and needed to match reality, since they represent real-life women. It was beautiful to hear some of the stories behind the scenes, like how Sally’s name tag was changed from ‘Sally Ride’ to just ‘Sally’ at her own request.”

After weeks of speculation and an absolute monster of a hype train, the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon has finally been unveiled and will go on sale on the 1st October 2017.

This version of the UCS Millennium Falcon will contain 7,541 LEGO pieces, making it the biggest LEGO set ever to be created, and as such it does carry a fairly monstrous price tag of £649.99

If you haven’t checked out the video from the LEGO design department, then I strongly recommend taking a look. It gives you a nice sense of scale, seeing it with the LEGO designers.
