I think I supported the project when it was still at around 3000 supporters. and that wasn’t event that long ago. This set has achieved a massive amount of support in a short amount of time.

Hopefully that level of support will help it through The Lego review process, and we will soon get our very own Spongebob Krusty Crab set!

What do you think about the set? Did you support the project? Let me know in the comments below ❤️

Lego Ideas Project Description

About the model:

Introducing my very first Product Idea, a definitive MOC of The Krusty Krab from the beloved cartoon Spongebob Squarepants originally created by Stephen Hillenburg back in 1999. With (almost) every detail, plank and wall of the restaurant faithfully recreated from the show, I have also tried to capture the charming aesthetics of the Krusty Krab, which I hope fans of both LEGO and Spongebob can appreciate.

If this makes it to become a set, I think it would just be a magical experience to see iconic restaurant that we’ve always watched through a screen actually sitting on your desk and to be able to interact with it, whether it is recreating your favorite scenes from the cartoon or creating new ones from your imagination, this set is your oyster!

Background:

I was initially surprised by the lack of an accurate LEGO representation of the Krusty Krab on the internet, which given the popularity of the iconic underwater eatery, I thought many skilled builders would have been up to the task. Being a fan of both Spongebob and LEGO, I took it as an opportunity to create the best version I could. It was a fun and difficult process altogether, but this project have given me a newfound appreciation of the beautiful and genius design of the Krusty Krab. Something like that truly comes once in a lifetime!

Features:

– The complete Krusty Krab package with fully designed exterior and interior, (including the Kitchen, Office and Bathroom.) with removable roofing for complete access to the inside.

– A few fun and small builds such as the must-have “Krusty Krab” clam sign, as well as a dumpster and a boatmobile to top off the Spongebob experience. (Also includes a couple Krabby Patties. How could we forget those.)

– All 6 of the main characters in their LEGO forms! (Spongebob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Squidward, Sandy and Plankton.)

Other Info:

Number of Pieces: 2996 (It’s a miracle I was able to pull this off at that parts count.)

The model measures 32 x 48 (10 x 15 in).

Built with LEGO Digital Designer and Mecabricks.

The Lego Ideas Big Bang Theory set was designed by Ellen Kooijman AKA Alatariel. You may remember the name from the Research Institute set, and yes, it is the same designer. So not only was Ellen lucky enough to get one set passed, she actually did it TWICE! Which is quite the accomplishment I think you’ll agree?

Firsts

This set is special because it is the first time Lego Ideas made a set based on a TV show, as the few licensed properties up to now had been films and video games. This set and the design and minifigs definitely lead the way to the Friends central perk set that came a few years later.

Official Description

If you like LEGO (which you probably do if you’re here) and you like Great British Bake Off, then the new channel 4 show LEGO Masters could be right up your street.

The Great British Brick Off?

The similarities between bake off and LEGO Masters are plentiful. Contestants from all over the UK compete to prove they are a Master Builder. Each week the contestants battle it out to prove their skill with LEGO bricks. The main difference between LEGO Masters and Bake Off is that here, the contestants are in pairs and the age range is far more varied. This competition pits young against old, and there are teams of young and old too.

The show is hosted by Melvin Odoom and the Judes change each week, well, one of them does. The main judge is Matthew Ashton a man who knows a thing or two about LEGO as Vice President of Design for the LEGO Group.

Every week there is a guest judge to help with judging duties and week one that honour fell to Roma Agrawal – multi-award winning structural engineer best known for her work on The Shard.

In coming weeks the judging shoes will be filled by Celebrity Lego fans, like Richard Osman, Bill Bailey and Dara O’Briain.

Check it out the show for yourself here

Lego Masters first episode aired tonight, Thursday 24 August at 8 pm on Channel 4, and will air for a fairly short four weeks. I guess they are testing the waters with the show. Becuase of the short run, they actually got rid of 2 sets of contestants this week.
